Charles was a brick-burner and boarded with Alice's family at 29 Church Lane, Accrington. His father was a Coal dealer at the time of Charles marriage.
Birth certificate no. 269 Registration District Stoke upon Trent in the Sub District of Hanley in the County of Stafford.
His Mother's name was Hannah Walker and she was illiterate.
His Father was Thomas Kelsall who was a brickmaker at the time of Charles birth.
Apparently Charles father married twice and Charles did not get on with his step mother, he used to call her the "old woman". This could account for his move to Accrington.
Notes for ALICE WHITTAKER:
Alice was a card-room hand in a cotton factory at the time of her marriage. She lived at 29 Church Lane Accrington. Her Father was a carter.
Martha Ellen Ormerod (Alice's sister) and William Ormerod (Marth-Ellen's husband) were the witnesses of the marriage.
Interestingly, the copy of the marriage certificate which was issued in 1944 was certified by a vicar named (HH) Whittaker.
Alice was born in 1890 but her birth was not registered until 1902 in Accrington.
Her Father was a carter at the time of her registration and her Mothers name was Mary Ann Simpson
